It was way back in April 2011 that we first heard inklings of Top Chef alum Spike Mendelsohn bringing an outpost of DC-based burger joint Good Stuff Eatery to Philadelphia. In the interim 20 months, he’s gone on to open another one in Arlington and is about to add a Georgetown location and a steak frites restaurant in Washington. Philly’s still very much in the plans, however, as evidenced by his tweet today in search of a good 3000-sq.-ft. location somewhere “downtown.”
“Good Stuff Eatery is looking for a home in Philly,” the chef confirmed to us via e-mail, noting he can’t yet give a timeline, since a space has yet to be nailed down. “We are eager to open up in Philadelphia and bring the Good Stuff to a new community of hungry burger lovers,” he continued. Burger lovers, here? Yup, looks like the star chef knows his markets. We’ll keep you posted on updates.
