One of a bundle of new openings in the capital this side of Christmas, contemporary Japanese restaurant and bar Wabi opens tonight to expectant critics, blaggers and liggers. Named after the
wabi-sabi aesthetic movement of beautiful and elegant minimalism often associated with Japan, the restaurant in Holborn is divided between a contemporary European take on Japanese classics from former Nobu head chef Scott Hallsworth, and straight-up sushi from Taiji Maruyama, also from Nobu. What's it like, and how does it compare to London's favourite Japanese cuisine hot spots like
Koya,
Atari-Ra and
Dinings? We'll report back tomorrow.
