Sure it’s Giving Tuesday nationally, but here in San Francisco a group of compassionate pastry chefs have organized a two-week long charitable effort that’s a win-win for everyone. The concept of collecting winter coats for those who need them isn’t new, but their One Warm Coat charity drive has a sweet twist - donate a warm coat at one of the participating bakeries and restaurants between November 26 through December 10 and you’ll be rewarded with a free custom holiday-inspired sweet treat from the pastry chef at that location.
Emily Luchetti, executive pastry chef of Waterbar and Farallon is the mastermind behind the promotion but the full roster of participating pastry chefs are Waterbar, Farallon, Baker & Baker, Tout Sweet (kitchen facility), Tartine Bakery, Absinthe, La Folie, Goody Goodie Cream and Sugar, Range, Town Hall, Brasserie S&P, Bourbon Steak, One Market, Zare at Fly Trap, Coco500, Prospect, 1300 Fillmore and Noe Valley Bakery. Each location has different donation times so donors should call ahead or check out the info here.
