Qdoba, the fast-casual Mexican food chain also known as “not Chipotle,” will close 18 of its 23 Chicago-area locations tomorrow at 3 PM. The announcement was first made via Facebook and Twitter, and then later confirmed in a statement by Qdoba president Tim Casey. “By closing these locations and optimizing our company footprint,” Casey said. “We can be more effective in focusing our advertising and marketing resources to support existing and planned restaurants in our core markets where we have high levels of brand awareness.”
The Chicago closures are in addition to 67 more closures nationwide. Despite ceasing operations at these lower-performing stores, Qudoba is planning to open 145 new restaurants by the end of next year. The full list of closures is below.
