How do chefs stay healthy when they’re around delicious food all the time? And if you’ve ever worked in the service industry, you know it’s a fun-loving, hard-livin’ kind of bunch, so being healthy isn’t always easy. For some the answer is moderation, for others it’s ice cream for breakfast and for still others it’s extreme exercise like CrossFit and Camp Gladiator. And as chef Shawn Cirkiel says, in Austin “it’s about eating and drinking as much as it’s about running on the hike and bike trail or swimming in the lake.” Here are four chefs who make our fit city proud.
