Pete Wells of the NY Times has dropped one star on Andrew Carmellini's French newcomer, Lafayette, but it's not a full-fledged love affair. In fact, he feels very lukewarm about the joint in general and writes: "Almost all of it is worthy, but very little seduces you. Lafayette wants you to fall in love with it, but it tries too hard in some ways and not hard enough in others. It’s a restaurant that is a little too easy to place in the friend zone."
