Top Chef fans are pretty lucky here in LA. There are a number of chefs from the show - popular for good and bad reasons - running around the culinary landscape, from season 6 winner Michael Voltaggio (ink.) to this season's Last Chance Kitchen front-runner, CJ Jacobson. But Brooke Williamson, co-owner and chef of the South Bay's Hudson House and The Tripel, is slowly becoming a frontrunner on TC Seattle. She's one of those chefs who sort of skates along in the middle until weekly eliminations finally give her room to show her stuff, and now she's hitting her stride. Some even think she'll take it all. You'll see Williamson running around one of her two gastropubs most days, but if you want to meet her and say you knew her when, now's your chance.
On Monday, January 21, Williamson and co-owner (and husband) Nick Roberts have teamed up with The Bruery for a special beer dinner at the Hudson House. The five-course menu features dishes like pickled and roasted root vegetables with pine nut cream, rock shrimp dumpling and clams in coriander-popcorn broth, braised lamb cassoulet, and whitemos and dark chocolate souffle cake. Each course is paired with one of The Bruery's brews, including a sour blond ale aged with cherries, and a German-style wheat beer brewed with truffle salt and coriander. There are only 50 seats for this one and will fill up fast. $60 per person; starts at 6 PM (514 N. Pacific Coast Hwy; 310-798-9183).
