Since Il Covo has already closed to make way for the new A.O.C., there's plenty of space on the second floor for Barbershop Ristorante Italiano to take over for a few nights. The Italian pop-up is the brainchild of chef Walter el Nagar (Il Grano, La Botte) with wines selected by Piccolo's Mario Vollera. The two hope to open a brick-and-mortar in Venice soon, but until then Barbershop will open Wednesday through Saturday nights from December 19 through January 12.

Here's a look at the opening menu, which may or may not change by the time the doors open on Wednesday, but you can expect dishes like fresh crudo, linguine with Carlsbad Farm's mussels and bottarga, pork cheeks with tomato and Pecorino, and classic tiramisu. The prix fixer is $75 per person and $35 extra for wine pairings. Make reservations via UrbanSpoon or OpenTable (8700 W. Third St.)
