There's a new sports bar in Murray Hill, and this one is a bit fancier than the bro bars that dot this hood. The folks behind The Windsor in the West Village have opened a second location in the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel today. Although it is more upscale that the average sports bar, the new venue is more laid back than Winston's Champagne Lounge, which was the previous tenant at the space.
The menu is from chef Jason Hall, who also is at the helm of recently opened Bill's in Midtown. Here, the focus is on gourmet comfort food. Hall collaborated with Kristine Mana-ay, the chef at Windsor West Village, to come up with offerings like a tuna steak BLT and some Guinness-beer-battered fish 'n' chips. Each booth in the room comes with it's own flat screen TV, and the room is decorated with pinstriped wallpaper and signed collectibles from the Yankees, Mets, Knicks and Giants. The bar opens at 4 PM today (420 Park Avenue South).
