There’s still tickets left for tonight’s secret seven-course dinner party in San Francisco benefitting the now water-ravaged Governor Restaurant in Brooklyn, the popular New York restaurant helmed by Noma and Per Se alum Bradford McDonald, which was opened for only four months before Hurricane Sandy dumped four feet of water into its kitchen. Fellow celebrity chefs in Chicago and New York have already held fundraiser dinners for McDonald, and the recovery effort continues tonight in the city with a seven-course meal showcasing the DUMBO restaurant’s cutting-edge techniques and inventive flavor combination. We've got a special discount for Zagat readers and the lowdown on where the dinner is taking place.
It’s for a good cause, but for those of you who need a little extra incentive, organizer Kitchit is offering Zagat readers a 20% discount on the cost of the dinner that is normally $150 per person, including wine pairings. Simply type in the code ZAGAT on the event page. Highlights form the menu will include a composition of celery root and preserved egg yolks with an aerated clothbound cheddar cream and 36-hour braised and lacquered beef tongue served with cabbage melted in buttermilk whey and crispy elements. Check out the complete menu online. Oh, and the secret location? It's been relocated from its previously announced Mission locale. It's going to be held at AQ Restaurant. (Cocktails at 7 PM, first course at 8 PM).
