After a stint at the helm of West Village's
Griffou, chef David Santos is back in the 'hood, this time running the kitchen at New American eatery Louro, which is up and running in the space that used to house Lowcountry. Santos will incorporate touches from his Portugese heritage in the dishes, and he'll be hosting a special sunday night supper club dubbed Nossa Mesa, which will serve menus like a Christmas Eve offering themed around the movie
Christmas Vacation (we're kind of intrigued, kind of terrified). The menu (which
you can see here) is broken down into four sections, bites, small plates, eggs and grains, and large plates. A $65 tasting menu will be available nightly.
This restaurant is another Kickstarter success story from the food world. Some of the partners raised $25,000 in nine days using the online fund-raising platform. See if that cash was put to good use by stopping by at 142 West 10th St. (212-206-0606).
