Sprig and Sprout |
Getting a taste of Hanoi or Saigon just got easier for DC admirers of their fresh, flavorful Asian cuisine. The prolific Hilton Brothers (
American Ice, the
Brixton,
Chez Billy,
Marvin and
Satellite Room) revamped their 14 Street NW Blackbyrd into
Hanoi House, a red-and-black-lacquered bordelloesque backdrop for inexpensive Vietnamese classics. Strong drinks from the talents behind the nearby
Gibson wash down the likes of pho, noodle bowls, spring rolls and char grilled shrimp (2005 14 St. NW; 202-747-2377).
Meanwhile, across town,
Sprig and Sprout, a pho and Viet sandwich shop will be opening today in Glover Park. The street level will offer casual, inexpensive dining to eat in or take home. Upstairs, opening soon will be a welcoming bar and full-service at tables overlooking Wisconsin Avenue. On the menu, expect pho, banh mi, rice bowls and vermicelli (2317 Wisconsin Ave. NW; 202- 333-2569).
