John Harvard's Brewery & Ale House in Harvard Square |
We love Boston. You know why? Because it’s a city rich in history we can always tie in with food and restaurants. For example:
John Harvard’s Brewery & Ale House in Harvard Square is honoring the 405th birthday of its namesake (that is John Harvard, a benefactor of Harvard College, the original school within Harvard University). And instead of a séance, it’s opting for a week-long celebration featuring special menu items for $4.05 (such as the 10-oz. pour of Monticello Porter, a Colonial era period Baltic porter and a flourless chocolate torte soaked in John Harvard’s Espresso Stout), a trivia night, a DJ dance party with prizes, historical character performances and a Shakespeare-themed weekend brunch with some mighty fine dishes like thick-cut brioche French toast dipped in crème anglaise and layered with Nutella and brûléed banana for $11.99 (November 26-December 2; 617-868-3585).
P.S. Happy Birthday, John Harvard, who was born November 26, 1607.
