New Dishes at Distrito; New Beer Pairing Flights at Tinto

Jose Garces has been putting the new “culinary brain trust” he told us about last week into action. Along with chef de cuisine Susan Vanvreede, he’s just introduced 20 new dishes to the menu at Distrito in West Philly. Our favorite of those we sampled had to be the chicharrones, which were spicy and rich without being greasy. Also look for a new ceviche with kampachi, ham and charred corn, and pan-roasted duck breast with a goat cheese crêpe (215-222-1657).

At Tinto in Rittenhouse, the new thing is a $20 Spanish craft beer pairing flight. Offered throughout the night, the tasting includes three 3-oz. pours of brew alongside three different pintxos (Basque tapas). Tonight’s debut pairing includes pork belly brochette with grilled peach and a brew from Barcelona’s Cervesera Del Montseny. The deal is available at the bar only (215-665-9150).
