Former NY Times dining critic Sam Sifton is returning to the food world, according to a memo released today. The writer is leaving his post as national editor at the Times and taking on some new projects as senior editor, one of which will be a "new dining news product" according to a memo from NYT exec. editor Jill Abramson, although it will be separate from the current dining report and section. No exact details yet on what this project will entail but lately the dining section has picked up a bit of critical attention for reviewing restaurants not in NYC. Perhaps Sifty will fill in the gaps doing coverage around the U.S? Stay tuned. [Romanesko via Eater]
