Dean McDermott, aka Mr. Spelling, who's currently on the Food Network's Rachel vs. Guy, joins chefs Jet Tila (The Charleston), Jorge Valines (Code Venice), Emily Collisson (Montage Beverly Hills, and Abigaile host chef Tin Vuong at the latest installment Kitchen Takeover at the Hermosa Beach restaurant. The theme is "global cuisine," so each chef will create a dish that's a modern interpretation of their cultural background and culinary style. Monday, Jan. 28; cocktail hour starts at 6:30 PM, with dinner at 7:30 PM. $65 per person with optional wine pairings available (1301 Manhattan Ave.; 310-798-8227).
A few weeks later, Nancy Silverton and Matt Molina take Mozza favorites like crispy pig's trotter with greens, ricotta and egg raviolo with brown butter, grilled quail and the famous butterscotch budino to the Culinary Masters dinner at The Strand House in Manhattan Beach.
