Asta in the Back Bay
Back Bay New American restaurant Asta quietly opened under the radar last night, January 22 (as was earlier reported here). “We had about 25 people,” said Shish Parsigian, who owns and operates the restaurant with her boyfriend and chef Alexander Crabb, a Culinary Institute of America grad  (formerly at L’Espalier).

The pared down interior - red elm communal tables, steel - helps keep the focus where Crabb wants it: on the food. His “playful” (his description) farm-to-table cuisine is offered in tasting menus only: three-, five- and eight-course tastings at about $40, $70 and $90, respectively. Beer, wine and cordials are part of the offerings.

Asta is open Tuesday through Sunday, 6-10:30 PM.

47 Massachusetts Ave., Back Bay; 617-585-9575
