For some of us, coffee is a necessity. For others, it’s an obsession. And others still demand that their morning due not only tastes great and revs them up but also come from socially responsible growers and roasters. Do you know where your coffee comes from? It’s environmental footprint and the effects on communities along the supply chain?

For answers on these questions and more, swing by the Ferry Building tonight where CUESA wil be hosting a panel discussion on the ethics of coffee. Hanna Neuschwander, author of "Left Coast Roast: A guide to the Best Coffee and Roasters from San Francisco to Seattle," will introduce the complexities of growing coffee and moving it around the globe and moderate a panel that includes environmental social scientist Christopher Bacon, co-author of Confronting the Coffee Crisis, Stephen Vick, quality control manager of Blue Bottle Coffee Co. and Colby Barr of Good Food Award FinalistVerve Coffee Roasters. The evening’s coffee talk will include a discussion, book signing, farmers market refreshments and, of course, coffee tastings from Verve Roasters and Blue Bottle Coffee.
