Monday
It’s opening day for Goat Hollow, the resurrected Mt. Airy hang that is now an American brasserie, and the ribbon cutting is set for 6 PM. Swing by to try Monk’s Cafe alum Adam Glickman’s wild boar terrine, oyster muffaletta sandwich or several renditions of the dish famous at the Center City beer mecca, moules et frites. The impressive beer list includes 20 taps, two casks and another 30 in bottles (267-428-5672).
Tuesday
At Supper on South Street, Tuesdays are dedicated to fried chicken, and not just any kind. Chef Mitch Prensky gives these half-birds a pastrami flavoring, fried to a crisp and served with house pickles, thousand island dressing and a scratch biscuit. The whole plate is yours for $25 (215-592-8180).
Wednesday
The temperature is due to be in the 20s this week, so if you’re out walking through Center City, make sure your route takes you past Sansom Street. In honor of National New England Clam Chowder Day, the Oyster House will have a street side stand set up from 11:30 AM-2 PM, doling out the thick, hearty soup for $5 a cup. Buy two and use one to warm your insides as you hurry back indoors (215-567-7683).
Thursday
Banish the cold with thoughts of snow. Snow crabs, that is. At Gypsy Saloon in West Conshohocken, Thursdays bring all-you-can-eat snow crabs. Crack as many as you can for $25 per person, accompanied by Old Bay fries and coleslaw (610-828-8494).
Friday
Hot off his nod as StarChefs best hotel chef, Jon Cichon will prepare a six-course meal designed to highlight wines from South America at Lacroix in Rittenhouse. The $150 per person feast includes venison tartare, king crab, stewed veal with hamachi and grilled short ribs, as well as reds and whites from Peru, Argentina and Chile. Call to reserve your spot (6 PM; 215-790-2533).
Saturday
Fancy a trip to Belgium but don’t have the time? Head to West Chester for a day of Belgian beers and brewers at Iron Hill Brewery. Starting at 1 PM, ales from more than 30 breweries will be on offer, in either 12-oz. pours or 10-beer sampler flights. Look for the 2012 Philly Beer Week signature brew Speciale Belge, along with many others (610-738-9600).
Sunday
If you’re a meat fiend, head down to Newbold from 4-8 PM for South Philadelphia Tap Room’s fourth annual beef ‘n’ beer. Your $35 admission includes all the beef you can eat, including chef Scott Schoeder’s roasted NY strip, brisket tacos, steak tartar with pickled oysters and more. Firkins and specialty drafts are available on a pay-as-you-go basis. Call for tickets (215-271-7787).
