Looking for cheer and warmth? Head to the newly opened Squeaky Beaker Café in Kendall Square, where owner Anthony Miller and his chef dish out American comfort food. The cafe is open Monday-Friday, but is slated to start serving on Saturdays beginning February 2.

Breakfast sandwiches are made to order. “We really crack eggs – no weird patties of eggs,” says Miller, and lunch features sandwiches like Reubens, paninis chicken pesto and more. Dinner entrees are of the homestyle kind - braised short ribs, turkey dinner and the like. Guests eat in at the 16-seat cafe with cheery colors.

Counter service mitigates the cost. Breakfast sandwiches run $5-$6; lunch sandwiches are $8.22 no matter what; and dinner entrees aren’t more than $15. No beer or wine, but plenty of friendliness.

The Squeaky Beaker opened earlier this year. Miller also owns the 2nd Street Café also in Cambridge.
