Hungry? |
There's a new tapas joint coming to SoHo from the team behind
Taka Taka and
Viva La Crepe. There will be tostadas, tapas-style of ceviche and plenty of Mexican hot chocolate to go around (a dozen varieties, if you want to be precise). One dish in particular got our attention: toasted crickets on a blue corn tostada. That's a picture of it above, and we suspect diners will come down in two camps on this one: those who can't get over the "ick factor" and the adventurous types who see trying this as a test of their culinary mettle.
Of course those who don't want to gorge on crickets will find plenty of other stuff to like. Those looking for a quick bite can stop by the stand-alone Antojeria La Popular Tortilleria, a street kiosk that will serve blue-corn tortillas and quesadillas along with corn in a cup and Mexican sodas. The eatery is scheduled to open on January 25 at 50 Spring Street. Get
