Steak from Gallagher's |
Kosher carnivores got some news today, as
The Prime Grill announced that it will leave its current location and expand to the large Midtown space that used to house
Beacon. It will have double the amount of seats as the current location on East 49th Street. That outpost will close on January 18. In addition to the chops and sushi, the menu will be expanded and the new location will get inventive with Beacon's wood-fired oven. Stay tuned for the opening at 25 West 56th St.
In other steakhouse news, Gallagher's steakhouse will remain open after reports of it's imminent demise. The chophouse has been cooking up the cuts since 1927, and they ran into financial troubles this October. Today,
the NY Post reports that restaurateur Dean Poll (
Central Park Boathouse) has purchased the Theater District behemoth and will keep it up and running. No word on what, if any, changes are to be expected [via
Grub Street].
