Just because the next year of the pig in Chinese zodiac isn’t until 2019 doesn’t mean you can’t end 2012 with a proper pig-out. At the West Village tapas bar Barraca, chef Jesús Núñez pays respects to the Iberico pig by serving a porcine-centric menu until Sunday, December 30th. $85 for 2 people buys a feast of morcilla (home-made black pudding); chorizo fresco al vino blanco (white wine chorizo); butifarra fresca a la parrilla (grilled Catalan sausage); panceta la fuego lento (braised pork belly); orejas crujientes (crispy ears); secreto al grill (grilled shoulder blade); callos a la Madrilena (pork tripe in Madrilena sauce); costillas al horno (roasted marinated pork ribs); carrilladas guisadas (pork cheeks in a stew); and jamon asado (roasted ham), all served with rustic bread and $5 side dishes.
