Henrietta's Table in Harvard Square
Well, it looks like we’re gonna make it. So far so good on holding off “the end of the world as we know it.” Cue up R.E.M. That means you’ll need to eat breakfast (or brunch) tomorrow morning. Here’re a few spots to do that. (We'll see you on the other side of Christmas!)

Tuck into some vanilla pancakes with caramelized bananas ($9) or the scrambled eggs with crème fraîche and smoked salmon ($9) when you settle into the low-key and friendly Beacon Hill Bistro on Beacon Hill, then stroll the shops along Charles Street for last-minute shopping (since we’re all still here) (10 AM-3 PM; 617-723-7575).

Henrietta’s Table in Harvard Square has a lovely breakfast menu for the early birds who are just grateful to be alive. Indulge in Red Flannel Hash, poached eggs with Hollandaise Sauce ($8.25) or a malted waffle with a side of homemade apple butter ($8.50) among the many selections (7-11 AM; 617-661-5005).

Olé Mexican Grille in Cambridge is holding a “Survivalists Brunch” Saturday, December 22, where you can dig into crab cakes with poached eggs cilantro hollandaise sauce, caramelized plantains and home fries ($12.95), scrambled eggs with Mexican sausage, onions and tomatoes on corn tortillas with pinto beans, home fries and toast ($9) or other savory treats to celebrate that you can now celebrate New Year’s (10:30 AM-2:30 PM; 617-492-4495).
