Firefly's in Framingham Closes, Leaving Original Marlborough Store

"Catering is on fire," says Steve Uliss of Firefly's BBQ.

Firefly’s BBQ, at 235 Old Connecticut Path in Framingham, has closed. The store shut last month when owner Steve Uliss did not renew the lease. “We couldn’t come to terms,” said Uliss in a telephone interview. The Framingham locale had a nine-year run and follows the closings of Uliss’ Quincy location in recent years.

But the original Firefly’s at 350 East Main St. in Marlborough, open 13 years, is going strong, according to Uliss. “We’re up about 15 percent [year over year] in the store and catering,” says Uliss. “Catering is on fire.”

Uliss says he’s entertaining another Framingham location, but didn’t disclose where. “Our mission right now is to blow everyone away with the best barbecue and Souther fare in New England,” he says.
