How can it be that Sushi Roku celebrates its 12th anniversary this month. To commemorate - and thank all the Old Town shoppers who go there - check out the special 12 Tastes of Sushi Roku Past, Present and Future tasting menu beginning this Saturday. For $48 per person, you'll nibble classics like yellowtail sashimi with diced chilies, spicy tuna on crispy rice, sea bream with yuzo and sea salt, and king crab with Champagne beurre blanc. The deal is good through December 31 (33 Miller Alley; 626-683-3000).
Holiday This
Who said you need to light a tree to celebrate the holidays? On Friday, the merchants around Windward and Pacific avenues are hosting holiday crawl when the Venice sign gets lit (not unlike a lot of the people in the 'hood) with holiday spirit. Look for specials at spots like Hotel Erwin's High rooftop lounge, Canal Club, and the newly renovated Code, which will have happy hour all night. 6-9 PM (Windward Ave. at Pacific).

One of the biggest shopping days of the year isn't Black Friday, it's Unique LA Holiday Show at California Market Center. Or at least it should be. The fifth annual independent design show, and the largest in the country, features hundreds and hundreds of locally made goods from stationary to art to clothing and jewelry and everything in between. Foodstuffs are not left out of the selection, so if you're looking for one-stop shopping for made in LA jams, pickles, sauces and chocolates, this is your place. Fill up on tasting samples, or hit the "cafe," a section with food truck and restaurant vendors. The $10 price tag covers admission to both days, so if you saw something on Saturday and hate that you didn't pick it up for your mother-in-law, go back on Sunday. 11 AM-6 PM both days (110 E. 9th St.).
