California chain Pedro’s Tacos opened quietly a couple months ago in the Downtown Crossing area, and has slowly been attracting fans. The small storefront has about 20 seats and counter service, offering a great cheap-eats menu of soft tacos (fish, fried chicken, carne asada, shrimp) and burritos for lunch and breakfast. Prices run $2.99-$4.99 for tacos, $2.69-$11.99 for burritos and around $3-$4.50 for breakfast burritos. Our afternoon pick was the carne asada, a nice combo of steak, salsa and guacamole. Sure the steak was a bit tough, but for $3.18 and friendly service, who’s complaining? Not us. We’d go again (55 Bromfield St.; Monday-Friday, 7 AM-7 PM; Saturday, 11 AM-7 PM; closed Sunday; 617-482-8822).
