It’s tough to for restaurants to make a go of it so who can blame restaurateurs for getting a little misty-eyed and nostalgic when celebrating an anniversary. Several big-name players are doing just that and offer the dining public to join them with commemorative menus, drinks specials, parties and more.

It’s been 20 years since Bradley Ogden opened, One Market his first San Francisco showcase for his then-trendsetting locavore American cuisine and to mark the double decade anniversary, current executive chef Mark Dommen will be rolling out special three-course lunch ($25) and four-course dinner ($39) menus featuring milestone dishes from throughout its two years. The full menus are available on online. To mark the occasion, One Market will also offer the 20/20, a Hirsch Selection Special Reserve 20 year-old American Whiskey Manhattan with Cocchi di Torino Vermouth and Peychaud Bitters for $20, as well as a large selection of 1993 vintage wines and 20 year Tawny Ports sourced specially for the occasion (1 Market, 415-777-5577).

Absinthe wants you to party like its 1998, the year that the Art Nouveau boite first opened in Hayes Valley. To that end, the kitchen is offering some of its original menu along with a slice celebratory birthday cake. From now through Sunday February 3, in addition to the regular dinner menu, diners can order the original Le cassoulet d’Absinthe ($28) or a slice of cake that current pastry chef Bill Corbett created for the occasion comprised of milk chocolate mousse, pressed coconut and candied pecans ($9). To toast the occasion, sommelier Aaron Wasserman will be offering a selection of highly regarded 1988 vintages available by the glass or bottles (398 Hayes St, 415-551-1590).

Ok, this one’s not a restaurant anniversary but we’d be remiss if we didn't let you know that tonight at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel restaurateur Harry Denton is hosting a birthday celebration at the for legendary San Francisco twins Marian Brown and her recently departed late sister Vivian, who were born on January 25, 1927. Surviving sister Marian will get serenaded with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday and be blowing out the candle on her cake at 6:30 PM. We expect it'll be quite a scene of who's who in San Francisco turning out for the event (free, 450 Powell St, 6:30 PM).
