Dog Haus, Slater's Top Pasadena Cheeseburger Challenge

Pasadena's inaugural Cheeseburger Week seemed like a good alternative, or precursor, to DineLA Restaurant Week, if only it got people out into the restaurants around Old Town and beyond. There weren't special menus, but many spots came up with new burger creations to keep people interested, and there was an online poll for favorite cheeseburgers, fancy burgers, alternative burgers and more. Turns out people like it messy and/or full of bacon, because the new Slater's 50/50 and the Dog Haus Biergarten pretty much dominated the results.

Slater's won overall Favorite Restaurant For a Burger - not surprising since it always seems packed, a boon for that corner a block off of the main drag where nothing else did very well - as well as top votes for its cheeseburger salad (Favorite Alternative Burger), New Restaurant For a Burger, and second place for Gourmet Burger, Turkey Burger and Dessert After a Burger. But Dog Haus killed the competition taking honors for Traditional Cheeseburger, Sliders, Gourmet Burger, and Bar Burger, plus other top-four awards. Granted, it looks like only a couple hundred people actually voted, but it's recognition just the same. We mean, the Dog Haus Freiburger or Juicy Lucy really are something.
