A few months ago we asked savory chefs around Chicago to share one dish that missed the mark - a dish that was perfect in their mind but failed on the plate. This time we tapped 10 pastry chefs to spill their sweetest slip-ups. Special-occasion desserts proved to be a sore spot, while elevated versions of carrot cake stumped two of the best pastry chefs in the city. More than one dish ended up in the trash at Tru, and savory ingredients refused to cross to the sweet side.
