Among the many, many, many photos,
obits and remembrances coming out after the news that
California's Gold and consummate Californian Huell Howser passed away, here's one from
Tiki Ti in Los Feliz. Everyone adored Howser's traveling shows on KCET, his aw-shucks demeanor and wonderment at everything from lint scarf makers to the guys who painted the Golden Gate bridge. Closer to home, he visited some of LA's classic restaurants including
Philippe's,
Langer's and
Pink's, where he even has
a hot dog named after him. We were all giddy to rub elbows with Howser at Evan Kleiman's KCRW Pie Contest last summer; everyone wanted a photo with him (we missed our opportunity). "I'm pied out," he said as we tallied up the final votes on that warm day. We'll raise a fork and a Ray's Mistake to you, friend. RIP.
