A Bloody Mary burger? Yep, at Slater's.
Monday
Newly minted chef de cuisine Gavin Mills (who just recently left Wood & Vine) heads up tonight's wine and cheese club at Tavern, except there's more ceviche and cocktails (a la bartender Christiaan Rollich) than cheese and wine. You'll find dishes like house-smoked salmon with guava puree and watercress paired with the Spice Island (Nolet's Silver dry gin, guava, chai and house-made orange bitters), and banana pain perdu with El Cacador (house-made cola and 10 Cane rum). $29 per person; starts at 7 PM (11648 San Vicente Blvd.; 310-806-6464).

Tuesday
There are a couple of weeks before DineLA's restaurant week begins, but participating restaurants in Beverly Hills are currently celebrating California Restaurant Week now through January 13. It's a global affair, and Bouchon Bistro will offer something French by way of cassoulet ($16.50 at lunch, $24.50 at dinner), with a special cocktail, The French Letter with cognac, Pineau de Charentes, Dolin dry vermouth and pinot gris (235 N. Canon Dr.; 310-271-9910).

Wednesday
Pizza and beer is one thing, but pizza beer is another thing entirely. Mark Jilg from Craftsman Brewing is having some fun with herbs like oregano and thyme in one of his brews, and you can only taste it at Maximiliano in Highland Park. Get it while you can (5930 York Blvd.; 323-739-6125). [via UD

Thursday
Heading to the OC? The Bruery Provisions, the retail store for The Bruery brewery in Orange, has closed. But starting today, all craft beer that isn't The Bruery's plus wine, cheese, charcuterie and other artisanal products will be marked 30% off through Sunday, January 13 (143 N. Glassell St.; 714-997-2337).

Friday
Lunch alert: Santa Monica's Shoop's European Deli now has a second location in West Hollywood, serving German specialties like weisswurst, brats, house-msoked salmon BLTs, banana pancakes, corned beef breakfast wraps and more (107 N. Hayworth Ave.; 323-654-9500). [Via Grub Street

Saturday
Talk about a brunch burger. The growing Slater's 50/50 chain has created a burger combining all the flavors you crave in a Bloody Mary with a burger - a beef patty spiced with Worcestershire and Tabasco, topped with grilled tomatoes, garlic-stuffed olive tapenade and smothered in bacon vodka sauce. It's even stabbed with a celery stalk. The Bloody Mary Burger is available at all locations, including the new Old Town Pasadena spot, through January (61 North Raymond Ave.; 626-765-9700).

Sunday
It's a new year to learn something new, and the Domestic Institute of Technology is the perfect place for it. Whether you've taken Foodcrafting 101 or not, the 102 course is a one-day hands-on workshop where you'll make your own ricotta cheese, hard apple cider, pickles and artisanale fruit leather from scratch. Lunch is included. The class takes place at the picturesque Zane Grey Estate in Altadena; say hi to the goats for us. $195 per person. Sign up here (396 E. Mariposa St.).
