Neal Syphers of Cafco Construction and Flour manager Jen Baker in the new Flour |
The new Flour at 131 Clarendon St. in the Back Bay is set to open (“Knock wood,” says Chang, as she knocks on what looks like a plastic cutting board.) a week from today, so that makes the arrival roughly around Thursday, January 10. Stay tuned.
What we know for sure: the upwards of 50-seat bakery will be blindingly lit by sunlight on sunny mornings; the staff will be stalwart and friendly (they're hailing from the original Flour on Washington Street); the pastries will be top notch; and it will be a godsend for commuters hustling through the Back Bay T Station (because it’s less than a block away). Flour four is housed in the building formerly occupied by the Hard Rock Café eons ago. The main entrance is on Stanhope Street.
We’ll keep you posted for when the coffee is hot and ready.
Chang also is owner of Myers + Chang, which she operates with husband Christopher Myers.
