If you happen to be grabbing a cup of joe at a DC Starbucks today or tomorrow and see the words "come together" written on the cup, it's not a Beatles reference. The coffee giant's CEO, Howard Schultz, is urging his employees in our nation's capital to hand-write messages on cups in an effort to encourage lawmakers to resolve the fiscal cliff standstill. The act is a first for Starbucks, but, in a letter posted online, Schultz wrote that "we have an opportunity—and I believe a responsibility—to use our company’s scale for good by sending a respectful and optimistic message to our elected officials to come together and reach common ground on this important issue." If this goes well, world peace is no doubt next. [Washington Post]
