Whether you’re looking to brush away cobwebs with the ‘hair of the dog,’ or want to start the New Year on a festive note, it’s good news that local restaurants will be opening their doors for brunch on New Year’s Day. Here are some highlights.

The Eatwell DC restaurants will help early birds kick start 2013 with a hearty, all-American meal at Commissary and the Heights (9 AM) Logan Tavern (10:30 AM) and The Pig (11 AM).

Make farm-to-table your mantra at Founding Farmers in Potomac and DC, and their recently reopened Georgetown sister, Farmers, Fishers and Bakers, where you can work off those holiday calories ice-skating on Washington Harbour’s state-of-the-art ice rink.

Corpse revivers ($5) as well as mimosas ($2) will open eyes at Dupont Circle Firefly’s brunch, where entrees like ‘snake eyes’ (eggs in a bread basket with sausage and red eye gravy) will aid resuscitation (202-861-1310).

Wear NYE regalia to the “Walk of Shame” brunch at Jackson 20 in Old Town, and receive 13% off the check. (9 AM-3 PM,) reservations suggested (703-842-2790).

Kick back with a relaxing, something for everyone meal at Clarendon’s Liberty Tavern where choices range from scrambled eggs to a Maine lobster roll (9:30 AM-2:30 PM; 703-465-9360).

Replenish and reinvigorate with Nage's cocktails, like one made with Gatorade, along with a hearty skillet of eggs, chorizo, bacon, frites and mac ’n’ cheese. And for those who need a little extra ‘hair of the dog’ there are bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas ($14). The regular brunch menu will also be available at this Logan Circle bistro (202-448-8005).

Get a racy start to the new year at Perry’s Drag Brunch with a buffet, entertainment and a complimentary cocktail in Adams Morgan (10 AM-3:30 PM; 202-234-6218).
