Turns out Alla Spina’s blue and orange t-shirts, featured last week in 9 Most Memorable Server Uniforms, are even more special than we knew. Vetri Family reps reached out to let us know that the shirts are based directly on jerseys worn by the football (aka soccer) team of Bergamo, Lombardia, where both Marc Vetri and Jeff Michaud trained. Plus, they were commissioned by Mitchell & Ness, the official provider of a lot of Major-League-branded sportswear.
The shirts are available for sale at the North Broad restaurant for $30 each, and in addition to the funky striped front, each one has a beer-related quote on the back. A few examples of the sayings you’ll find are:
"Give me a woman who drinks beer and I will conquer the world."
"One who drinks beer will live to be 100 years old."
"One who says they like to drink light beer doesn't like beer, they just like to piss a lot."
But don’t worry, the quotes are in Italian, so those who don’t speak the language won’t be offended, and those who do will surely agree with the sentiments.
