Candy Cane Martini at McGillin’s

If a bar has been operating continuously for more than 150 years, you know it either has great service or great prices - or, in the best case, a combination of both. The cheerful crew behind the bar at McGillin’s Old Ale House has come up with a new cocktail for the holidays, and it’s priced to keep your gift-buying fund intact.

The Candy Cane Martini is a mix of vodka, crème de cacao, peppermint schnapps and grenadine, shaken well and poured into a martini glass rimmed with crushed candy canes. The minty-sweet sip is available anytime for just $5, and the bar is fully decked out in pine branches, ribbons and lights. Even if the bartenders were surly at this Midtown Village standby it might be worth a visit, but somehow they never, ever are (215-735-5562).
